From the Paris Agreement to NDC 3.0: A Raised Ambition for 2035

Foundation: The Paris Agreement (2015)

Tunisia ratified the Paris Agreement in 2016. The global objective is to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Mitigation Target (2030 Horizon)

Reduction of the carbon intensity of the national economy by 45% by 2030, compared to the 2010 base year.

Adaptation & Resilience Objective

Strengthening Tunisia’s resilience and reducing the vulnerability of its ecosystems, population, and economy, within a sustainable development framework.

Financing Needs 2021–2030

Implementing the updated NDC requires the mobilization of approximately USD 20 billion (Mitigation: USD 14.4B, Adaptation: USD 4.3B).

New Ambition: NDC 3.0

Launch of the NDC update process to raise climate ambition by 2035, aligned with the national strategic vision.

Partnership and Mobilization

Tunisia joined the global NDC Partnership coalition in 2017. This 2nd Conference aims to mobilize technical and financial support to implement the priority actions of NDC 3.0.

De l’Accord de Paris à la CDN 3.0 : une ambition renforcée à l’horizon 2035

Fondement : l’Accord de Paris (2015)

La Tunisie a ratifié l’Accord de Paris en 2016. L’objectif mondial est de limiter le réchauffement climatique à 1,5 °C par rapport aux niveaux préindustriels.

Objectif d’atténuation (horizon 2030)

Réduction de l’intensité carbone de l’économie nationale de 45 % d’ici 2030, par rapport à l’année de référence 2010.

Objectif d’adaptation et de résilience

Renforcement de la résilience de la Tunisie et réduction de la vulnérabilité de ses écosystèmes, de sa population et de son économie, dans le cadre d’un développement durable.

Besoins de financement 2021–2030

La mise en œuvre de la CDN actualisée nécessite la mobilisation d’environ 20 milliards USD (Atténuation : 14,4 Mds USD, Adaptation : 4,3 Mds USD).

Nouvelle ambition : CDN 3.0

Lancement du processus de mise à jour de la CDN visant à renforcer l’ambition climatique à l’horizon 2035, en cohérence avec la vision stratégique nationale.

Partenariats et mobilisation

La Tunisie a rejoint la coalition mondiale NDC Partnership en 2017. Cette 2e conférence vise à mobiliser un appui technique et financier pour la mise en œuvre des actions prioritaires de la CDN 3.0.

Objectives

Initiate the engagement and implementation process of NDC 3.0 through the preparation, presentation, and mobilization of partners around structured, bankable projects with high climate impact.

Engage in negotiations and build cooperative relationships between national stakeholders and technical and financial partners around the priority projects proposed during the conference.

Ensure better information sharing and exchanges regarding the updated national and sectoral orientations and priorities identified during the NDC 3.0 development process.


Explore and discuss financing opportunities for Tunisia’s NDC, integrating national mechanisms (PPPs, green and innovative finance, etc.) as well as relevant international, regional, and bilateral mechanisms.


Allocate a dedicated space for innovation and youth entrepreneurship (startups) in the key sectors of NDC 3.0.
